Officers arrived at the 5700 block of Bridgeport Court around 5:15 p.m., only to find the suspect making a getaway in a vehicle, according to the Haltom City Police Department.
The scene rapidly intensified when officers heard a gunshot sound from within the vehicle. In a situation fraught with uncertainty, the surrounding area was quickly secured and cordoned off as reinforcements including tactical officers from Haltom City and North Richland Hills Police Departments converged on the scene. Persistent efforts to communicate with the driver hit a dead end until officers cautiously approached the vehicle to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
Immediate medical assistance was provided on-site before the individual was whisked away to the local hospital, his condition dire from the life-threatening injury.
