
A constable deputy from Harris County was left hospitalized following a collision with a suspected drunk driver on Sunday night in Atascocita, Texas. The accident took place around 10 p.m. at the 5600 block of Atascocita Road, near Eagle Springs Parkway.
Deputy Leon had been aiding the Atascocita Fire Department with traffic duties when a vehicle slammed into his patrol car from behind, FOX 26 Houston reported. The driver showed clear signs of inebriation and was detained at the scene by authorities.
The collision resulted in serious injuries for Deputy Leon, who was promptly taken for medical treatment. The accused, whose condition was not specified, was also hospitalized but is expected to face booking procedures after his release from medical care.
As soon as the driver is discharged, the suspect is set to be booked into the Harris County Jail, as confirmed by the Harris County Constable Precinct 4's office. The suspect was handcuffed and reportedly showed multiple signs of intoxication, the official Facebook page of the constable's office noted, according to Click2Houston. Details about the charges pending against the driver or a potential court date were not immediately available.
