A young woman lost her life from a gunshot wound at 12777 Ashford Point Drive, Houston, on Tuesday night. The fatal shooting has set the stage for a grand jury investigation as announced by the Houston Police Department.
Details on the incident remain close to the chest, the victim, a 20-year-old woman has not been named pending identification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, and the shooter, a 19-year-old female, appears unscathed. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office rubber-stamped the decision to put the case under the grand jury's microscope.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives E. Torres and A. Graf reported to the crime scene after patrol officers and paramedics responded to the emergency call. They discovered the woman, unmoving. She was promptly transported to Ben Taub General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
According to an update provided by the City of Houston, the shooter stayed on the scene and cooperated with the authorities, a fragment of order in the throes of chaos. "The shooter remained at the scene and was questioned by detectives," the report stated, an indication of procedure within the tempest.
