Houston Man, 77, Succumbs to Injuries from Early January Hit-and-Run, Police Seek Public's Help

A pedestrian has succumbed to injuries following a hit-and-run incident earlier this month in Houston. The 77-year-old male victim, struck while crossing 9400 Mesa Drive, died at Memorial Hermann – Texas Medical Center. Houston police disclosed this information Monday, following the January 9 collision.

As per the Houston police Vehicular Crimes Division's statement, the man was hit around 9:45 a.m. He crossed the road heading east when a black Chevrolet Tahoe, making a turn onto Mesa from Tidwell, collided with him. The driver, instead of stopping, fled the scene immediately after the accident. HPD officials Sergeant L. Ross and Officer R. Bymaster have taken lead on the investigation.

The identity of the victim awaits public release, pending familial notification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. The man passed away from his injuries on January 26.

Authorities are now appealing to the public for assistance in locating the driver of the Tahoe. The HPD Hit and Run Unit has urged anyone with information about the identity of the driver or details regarding the case to come forward.
