A man has been charged with the murder of a young woman following a fatal shooting that took place last week at a Houston apartment complex. Algie Mac Washington, 45, is the prime suspect in the death of 23-year-old Jaynice Ferguson, whose unresponsive body, sustaining at least one gunshot wound, was found on January 17, reported the City of Houston News.
Not yet apprehended, Washington is a wanted man, facing murder charges filed with the 176th State District Court. Identified by Houston PD Homicide Division Detectives A. Finlay and L. Kauffman, he was Ferguson's ex-boyfriend and is now a person of interest turned primary suspect. Patrol officers had initially responded to the shooting at around 7:15 p.m. According to the Houston Fire Department paramedics who were desperately trying to save her life, Ferguson got transported to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
The Harris County District Attorney's Office has been brought into the loop with the filing of the murder charge. As the search for Washington persists, the Houston Police Department urges those with information on his whereabouts to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600. Alternatively, individuals wishing to remain anonymous can provide tips through Crime Stoppers by dialing 713-222-TIPS.
