Gunfire erupted outside a Houston apartment complex last December, leaving a 20-year-old man wounded and detectives scouring for clues. The Houston Police Department has taken steps to publicize surveillance footage in hopes of catching the perpetrator, with the video displaying a suspect and their getaway ride – an older model black Jeep SUV.

Investigators are seeking to identify a possible Hispanic male assailant clothed in a gray hoodie, the man depicted in the video released earlier today. Additionally, the Jeep – possibly a Compass model sporting a distinct dent on the driver's side door – has been put on the wanted list. Authorities are urging the public to watch the video through a link provided on YouTube to possibly help to pinpoint the gunman.

The incident, which took place at approximately 4:30 p.m. on December 10, 2023, at 801 Country Place Drive, resulted in the victim being sent to a hospital in stable condition. "Officers responded to a shooting call outside the apartment complex at the above address and observed the victim inside a vehicle crashed into a tree across from the complex," Detective K. Shaver of the HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division reported this in a statement.

Witnesses claim to have heard gunshots, followed by the sighting of a male suspect exiting the back passenger side door of a Jeep Compass to rapidly open fire at the victim's vehicle. Another individual, described only as a Hispanic male donning a black hoodie, took the wheel and sped away northbound on Tully Street. Anyone with information regarding the suspect's identity or whereabouts of the Jeep is strongly encouraged to contact the HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division or to anonymously deliver tips to Crime Stoppers.
