An 18-year-old has been slapped with a capital murder charge over a Houston shooting last summer, while cops are beating the bushes for three accomplices, according to local authorities.
Adrian Marks was cuffed and stuffed by Houston Police Department, accused of gunning down 22-year-old Dummene Kponi on June 7, 2023 as reported by the Houston Chronicle. The grim discovery was made, when patrol officers spotted Kponi lifeless in his vehicle on the 1440 block of Lakeside Estates, riddled with bullet holes.
Upon scouring the scene, it surfaced that the incident sprang from a deal gone south, spiraling into a deadly robbery. Four individuals were reportedly seen legging it from Kponi's car before peeling away in a dark SUV, police statements said. Digging deeper, investigators pegged Marks as one of the quartet involved in the fatal encounter.
Locked up on unrelated felony drug raps, Marks remains in the Harris County Jail, denied bond. He's slated for his next court shuffle on Friday. In a separate, possibly unrelated incident, a man, yet unnamed and described as being in his 30s or 40s was also shot to death in his vehicle, this ordeal unfolded at a stone's throw away, in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Lakeside Estates Drive, FOX 26 reported.
The second victim was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his torso, and legs. Details are sketchy, but it seems an assailant may have reached into the man’s car, fired multiple shots, then bolted on foot. The reasons behind this second shooting are still under the microscope as the investigation forges ahead.
