A tragic industrial accident claimed the life of a 29-year-old man in Providence Village, Texas, prompting officials to issue a boil water notice for the area. According to WFAA, Jesus Perez Vasquez of Mesquite was identified as the victim by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner.
Fire and police crews from Denton County were dispatched to the scene on Main Street for a reported accident that involved two individuals, one of whom was taken to the hospital in critical condition, according to information obtained by FOX 4 News. Although the nature of the accident remains under investigation, officials have assured the public that there is no ongoing threat.
The town, which is about 40 miles north of Dallas and served by Aubrey police and fire, encountered issues at the water tower due to the accident. This affected water availability and led to the boil water notice. "All water for drinking, cooking and ice making should be boiled for two minutes and cooled prior to use," the town advised residents in a statement obtained by FOX 4 News.
Water service, however, was partially restored by 9 p.m. on Thursday, with officials warning of possible intermittent interruptions in service in some areas. As reported by WFAA, Eric Schlotter, chief of the Aubrey Fire Department, shared that they had been called for the rescue at 12:18 p.m. and found workers near a "ditch" upon arrival. Two workers for Acadia, contracted to connect a new water pipeline to the elevated tower in Providence Village, were involved in the undisclosed accident.
The University of Trinity River Regional Water Services initially called the event an "industrial accident" during its early statements. As this story develops, officials continue investigating the incident to uncover the cause and ensure the safety of Providence Village's populace.
