Jimmy Johnson, former Dallas Cowboys head coach and two-time Super Bowl victor, had a thing or two to say about the team's disappointing display against the Green Bay Packers. During FOX’s halftime show, Johnson, who picked the Cowboys to potentially go all the way before kickoff, did not mince words with his assessment of the squad, as they stared down a daunting 27-7 deficit, FOX 4 News reports.
The legendary coach was visibly incensed, recollecting the hard work of seasons past and practically ready to trade his suit for a helmet and pads as he called on the team to ramp up their efforts, “Every single one of you, you know how hard we’ve worked. I don't need to have people pointing the finger one way or another you get your rear end in there and you play the way you know how to play,” Johnson raved, his face a beacon of frustration and challenge, according to the broadcast, as per FOX 4 News.
Known for his no-nonsense approach, he emphatically pushed the Cowboys to adopt a high-tempo offensive strategy and to lay the pressure on Packers' quarterback Jordan Love, "We can win the game, we're gonna open it up, we're gonna go fast tempo. Defense, get after Jordan Love. You can't give him that much time!" Johnson declared, as per CNY Homepage.
With an offense that stumbled through the first half, Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott's connections with receiver CeeDee Lamb were scarce – just two completions, while giving up two interceptions, one returned for a touchdown – Johnson’s halftime tirade can be seen as an attempt to revive the faded echoes of the franchise's glory days, and perhaps to instill that once-familiar sense of urgency and determination in a team that hasn't seen an NFC Championship game since their 1995 Super Bowl win.
