The search for a missing elderly man in Lauderdale Lakes came to a happy conclusion Friday, as the Broward Sheriff's Office reported 74-year-old Lynford Edwards, who had gone missing on Thursday morning, has been safely located. According to the BSO Missing Persons Unit, Edwards was last seen yesterday, near the 2800 block of Somerset Drive, wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, and black boots.
Edwards, who authorities had noted weighs about 125 pounds and stands at 5 feet 4 inches tall, it was reported that he requires medication for certain health conditions, this raised immediate concern following his disappearance. The BSO made an urgent appeal to the public for help in finding Edwards, an appeal that was shared widely across social media platforms including X, where WSVN posted details of his initial disappearance.
Detective Leonard Charla of the BSO Missing Persons Unit led the efforts to trace Edwards, and in a swift response from the community coupled with diligent police work, the missing man was located and is reported to be safe. The Broward Sheriff's Office expressed gratitude to the public for their assistance in what could have been a more prolonged and troubling scenario.
The BSO did not disclose where or how Edwards was found, sticking with the brief statement that the elder member of our Lauderdale Lakes community, who had vanished stirring worries among his family and authorities alike due to his health condition and need for medication, his safety is a relief. Officials are, however, urging anyone with questions or further information about Edwards' brief disappearance to get in touch with BSO Detective Leonard Charla at 954-321-4274 or alternatively, call the BSO non-emergency number at 954-764-HELP (4357), as mentioned in WSVN's article.
