
Yesterday, an adult male and an infant sustained injuries in a harrowing incident in Lawrence, Massachusetts, officials reported. According to Boston 25 News, police were called to the Newbury Street area around 4 p.m. where they discovered the man with stab wounds.
After the altercation, officials said the injured infant, who was not stabbed, was initially held by the man. The pair were treated at the scene before being rushed to Lawrence General Hospital, Boston 25 News reported. Subsequently, both victims were transferred to hospitals in Boston for further medical attention, the nature of the baby's injury was not immediately disclosed while the man's condition remained unclear.
In a separate report by NBC Boston, details of the violent struggle remain sparse, but law enforcement indicated that the man sustained his injuries before the fight broke out. There was no immediate word on the severity of the injuries of either the man or the infant.
The ongoing investigation is a joint effort between Lawrence Police, The Essex County District Attorney's Office and the state police. "Based on the initial investigation, the altercation is not believed to be a random act of violence," said police according to WCVB. Authorities are yet to release information on potential suspects or the motive behind the stabbing.
