A man is fighting for his life after a heated exchange led to gunfire on the East Side of San Antonio late Monday night, according to authorities. Police are now on the lookout for the shooter, who fled the scene following the violent altercation.
The sequence of events began when officers were called to respond to a collision around 9:30 p.m. on Terron Road near Roland. Upon arrival, authorities discovered a man with a chest wound from a gunshot. The incident reportedly started after the victim, driving quickly, crashed his vehicle - a truck - into a fence, then a tree, FOX San Antonio reports.
According to police, soon after the crash, a suspect drove up next to the crashed vehicle in a black Dodge Durango. An argument ensued between the suspect, the victim, and a passenger in the truck. The suspect beckoned the victim towards the Durango and then shot him in the chest. The passenger in the truck was unharmed during the confrontation.
The critically injured man was rushed to the San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC), where he remains in critical condition. This case is still under investigation. Witnesses or individuals with information are urged to come forward to aid in the investigation.
