A Southfield man has succumbed to his injuries after firefighters pulled him from his burning home Thursday afternoon. The blaze, which broke out in the 24000 block of Philip Drive, was reported shortly before 3 p.m., sending emergency crews into action, according to CBS News Detroit.
Upon arrival, first responders were greeted by billows of black smoke emanating from the house. Rapidly making their way inside, they discovered an unresponsive man. Despite immediate medical intervention, the victim, whose identity is withheld pending family notification, was pronounced dead after being rushed to a local hospital, said Southfield Fire Chief Johnny Menifee, as per ClickOnDetroit.
While no other individuals are believed to have been present in the home during the incident, the cause of the fire remains a mystery, with ongoing investigations attempting to shed light on the series of events that led to the tragic occurrence.
