
A man was fatally shot while traversing the sidewalk in South Chicago's South Side, early Monday, authorities reported.
The 27-year-old was walking along the 8200 block of South South Shore Drive around 1:20 a.m. when, a vehicle rolled up and gunshots erupted from inside, striking him in the chest, The Chicago Sun-Times detailed. Responding officers found the man deceased at the scene. His identity has not yet been disclosed to the public.
According to a report by ABC 7 Chicago, the shooting shattered the early morning calm as the unnamed victim was fatally targeted. Amid the thrum of city life, the echo of gunfire and the ensuing sirens marked another chapter of violence that has lamentably become all too familiar.
As of this writing, no suspects have been apprehended and the motive behind the shooting remains, undisclosed.
