
A man was killed by an Amtrak train in a tragic incident near Carlsbad Village Station in the City of Carlsbad, officials reported. The collision occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Monday, January 15, and despite the Carlsbad Police's quick response and paramedics' efforts, the man's injuries proved fatal.
The Sheriff's Transit Enforcement Unit, responsible for investigating occurrences involving the North County Transit District, which includes Amtrak, has taken charge of the ongoing probe into this unfortunate event, the city's law enforcement announced, the police department initially responded to the scene only to later hand over the investigative reins to the sheriff's specialized unit.
The identity of the deceased, along with the determination of the exact cause and manner of death, will be established by the Medical Examiner's Office, pending family notification, according to a statement from the Sheriff's Department.
