A grisly scene unfolded in a Manchester, New Hampshire residence when a 76-year-old man was accused of stabbing a 69-year-old male, police say. The Manchester Police were called to 259 Central St around 5:20 p.m. on January 22, following a report of a stabbing.
The victim, found outside the residential building, was conscious, and suffering from stab wounds to his torso. In a statement, he accused Robert Hardy, a 76-year-old man – known to him – of the assault. After the attack, the victim was able to escape and reach his car. He was then transported to the hospital for treatment of wounds deemed non-life-threatening, according to information posted on Facebook by the Manchester Police Department.
Despite initial reluctance, police were able to persuade the suspect, Hardy, to exit the building and placed him under arrest. He faces charges of Attempted Murder and Resisting Arrest. It was also revealed that Hardy, as a convicted felon, had violated the law by possessing a knife. This resulted in an additional charge: Felon in Possession of a Dangerous Weapon.
With the severity of the charges against him, Hardy was held on Preventative Detention and arraigned yesterday, in Manchester Circuit Court. More details about the case will emerge as the judiciary proceedings continue, with Hardy currently facing the legal repercussions of his alleged violent act.
