At the crack of dawn, Mansfield cops shut down a one-man crime wave, pinching a brazen burglar who they say swiped a car, broke into a house, then boosted another vehicle before getting nabbed after a short chase on Tuesday. Around 7:40 a.m., officers charged onto the scene after a 911 call reported a vehicle theft in progress on the 1600 block of Evening Primrose Drive, according to the Mansfield Police Department.

The alleged thief didn't get far as patrol cars quickly tracked down the stolen ride cruising along Heritage Parkway. Despite a fleeting attempt to evade law enforcement, the pursuit was brief and the suspect's escapade came to a halt on the 2000 block of Matlock Road, where they say he ditched the ride and tried to leg it, but cops were quicker on the draw and swiftly snagged the suspect.

The arresting operation was a true tag-team effort as the MPD Day Shift, Tri County Auto Theft Task Force, The Dispatch team, and observant citizens all pulled together to put the cuffs on the suspect, "This successful apprehension was excellent teamwork involving MPD Day Shift, the Auto Theft Task Force, Dispatch, and witnesses," as detailed the Mansfield Police Department.
