Marble Falls is hitting a high note in the State of Texas as Governor Greg Abbott announced the city's new title as a Music Friendly Texas Certified Community. The Texas Music Office (TMO) granted the designation after the city demonstrated its dedication to nurturing the music industry, resulting in the potential for more jobs and economic growth in the area. The announcement highlighted that the Texas music scene supported over 192,000 jobs and pumped more than $26 billion into the economy last year.
Gov. Abbott praised Marble Falls for its commitment to the music culture, which is deeply intertwined with Texas’s identity. "Congratulations to the City of Marble Falls on earning the Music Friendly Texas Certified Community designation," Abbott said. "Music Friendly Texas Communities certified by the Texas Music Office work hard to attract and develop the local music industry to boost local job creation and economic growth." Officials from Marble Falls expressed their enthusiasm for the recognition, citing the town's rich musical past and vibrant current scene as driving factors behind the accolade.
The certification ceremony, which is open to all, will include speakers and performances by local musicians. It will take place at the Marble Falls City Hall on January 16 at 6 PM. More details have been released on the city's social media, inviting community members to partake in the event.
According to the City of Marble Falls Mayor Dave Rhodes, the designation is a milestone for the city’s growth. “Governor Abbott and the Texas Music Office designating Marble Falls as a Music Friendly Texas Community is a significant step in our growth,” Rhodes said. Marble Falls is now one of 56 communities to join a program that boosts music-friendly initiatives to the benefit of musicians and businesses alike. With spaces like Brass Hall and The Uptown Theater, the community has demonstrated a commitment to both local talent and Grammy-caliber entertainment.
The Texas Music Office, as a part of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and Tourism, has been at the forefront of promoting and aiding music industry growth in Texas since 1990. Its role encompasses a wide range of activities, from facilitating community partnerships to serving as an information hub for the industry. Marble Falls, with its newfound status, is poised to add a fresh layer of sound to an already rich Texas musical tapestry.
