A colossal sinkhole has emerged at the intersection of SR-131, also known as Tiburon Boulevard, and Stewart Drive in Marin County, prompting officials to close down the affected section of the roadway indefinitely. Engineers from Caltrans have assessed that the enormous pit has caused significant disruption and pledged to secure contractors to repair the damage promptly.
According to an X post from the official Caltrans District 4 account, given the size and severity of the cavity, efforts are being made to quickly mobilize the necessary workforce to restore order and safety to the busy roadway. Commuters are cautioned to expect delays and seek alternate routes as the Stewart Drive crosswalk also remains closed due to storm damage.
