Mesquite Kicks Off 'Get Fit' Initiative with Full On Fitness Event at Florence Recreation CenterSource: City of Mesquite, Texas

Mesquite is doing its part to keep community members on the straight and narrow when it comes to new year's fitness resolutions. On February 3, the City of Mesquite will open the doors to its Full On Fitness event — a part of the Get Fit Mesquite initiative that aims to keep local waistlines in check and spirits lifted.

From 9 a.m. to noon, residents can swing by the Florence Recreation Center, located at 2501 Whitson Way, where they’ll be met with everything from yoga to Zumba and even qigong — a traditional Chinese exercise technique, according to a recent announcement. Along with an array of free fitness classes, the event will feature health professionals on hand and complimentary healthy snacks to munch on.

Health-focused vendors are also on the agenda. WellMed, Dallas Regional Medical Center, and MVP Nutrition & Energy will be there to educate attendees on their services. Moreover, personal trainer Hector Vela, owner of MVP Nutrition & Energy, will be available for one-on-one consultations, as stated by the City of Mesquite, Texas.

In a bid to inspire holistic health among its citizens, Mesquite Mayor Daniel Alemán Jr., ushered in 2024 with a challenge to his constituents, urging them to Get Fit not just physically, but mentally, and financially too. Get Fit Mesquite isn’t a one-off — it’s a full-year program packed with workshops, classes, seminars, and tips, all designed to build a healthier community, one step at a time.

Mesquite residents are encouraged to keep a lookout on the city's social media channels for regular updates and tips on improving physical fitness, mental health, and financial well-being. With programming set to run the year, individuals can continually tap into the resources and support offered by Get Fit Mesquite, across all facets of personal well-being.
