A 67-year-old woman, walking her dog on a tranquil Milwaukie street, found herself in the throes of a life-threatening ordeal after a pickup truck slammed into her, leaving her critically injured. The pedestrian collision occurred on the morning of Sunday, Jan. 28, said authorities. The driver, identified as Kristin D. Russell, also of Milwaukie, has been arrested on charges including driving under the influence (DUII).

According to KOIN, the collision took place on SE Monroe Avenue near Wood Avenue. It was here that the victim, whose name has not been released, was struck by the right front of the pickup truck driven by Russell. Subsequent to the crash, the woman was rushed to a hospital with internal injuries and is currently said to be in critical but stable condition.

Russell, 57, didn't flee the harrowing scene and was taken into custody. She now faces serious allegations as a result of her actions in the incident. Alongside the DUII charge, she has been booked on assault and vehicular assault charges, as the investigation by local authorities continues to unwrap the circumstances that led to this moment of violence on a city street ordinarily traveled by residents and their pets.

The victim's dog, thrown into a sudden fright, ran off in the aftermath but was later found at the woman’s home, which was not far from the site of the collision. The Milwaukie PD is actively seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed the crash. As reported by Milwaukie Review, they encourage those with any pertinent details to make contact, as every piece of information could be crucial to their ongoing investigation.
