In a remarkable turn of events that redefines 'rush hour,' a North Miami woman welcomed her newborn baby girl into the world in a way far from the norm— in the back seat of a Lyft under an I-95 overpass. WSVN reported the events unfolded yesterday afternoon when the mother, experiencing labor pains, called for a Lyft to rush her to the hospital.

The laboring mother instructed the Lyft driver to move quickly. "So she just said, 'Let's go, let's go, let's go!'" the Lyft driver told WSVN. During the ride, her cousin, Cherley Zamor, was called and, knowing her cousin was in labor, raced behind the rideshare vehicle. Eventually, the driver, realizing the scarcity of time, pulled over beneath the busy interstate. Zamor arrived soon after and climbed into the chaos of the back seat to assist with the sudden delivery.

Zamor recounted the tense moments before the baby's birth to WFTV, saying, "She was screaming 'cause, I guess, the baby was coming." Zamor was forced to step into the role of impromptu midwife under the overpass. "And told her to push, that's the only thing I could do cause the head was already out," Zamor said. "So she pushed, the baby came out, I picked her up, tapped her on the butt. We're happy it's a healthy baby girl."

The Lyft driver, participating in his first-ever vehicular delivery, was commended by Zamor for his prompt actions and support. "He was very helpful. We're thankful for him," she told WSVN, who also mentioned Lyft should reward the driver. Police and rescue units, arriving after the birth, handled the transport of mother and child to the Jackson North Medical Center, where officials reported both are doing well. "It's a healthy baby girl. She's in health; that's all that matters," said Zamor, proudly reflecting on the extraordinary delivery.
