A brutal altercation at a Burger King in Des Plaines, Illinois ended in tragedy, as one man faces charges for the death of another last Wednesday. According to Chicago Sun-Times, 42-year-old Antonio Solorio of Mount Prospect was charged with first-degree murder following the fatal altercation with 28-year-old Mario Jara-Antemante.
The incident occurred outside the fast-food establishment, located at 860 S. Elmhurst Road near Landmeier Road, around 5:50 p.m., whereupon Solorio allegedly gave chase and stabbed Jara-Antemante inside the Burger King. After fleeing before police arrival, Solorio was later arrested outside a family member's home in Streamwood.
Jara-Antemante sustained multiple stab wounds and was rushed to a local hospital by the Des Plaines Fire Department where he was pronounced dead, CBS News Chicago reports. The Cook County medical examiner’s office confirmed the death of the victim. Investigators were able to quickly focus on Solorio as a suspect through multiple witness accounts and surveillance video from the scene.
The investigation also uncovered that Solorio and Jara-Antemante were no strangers. Acquaintances of both men were common, which suggests prior familiarity between the two, as stated in the confession Solorio provided to investigators. What exactly led to the violent confrontation that ensued before the stabbing is still under investigation, with Solorio's court appearance yet to be scheduled.
