A string of vape store burglaries that had been plaguing the towns of Frisco and Plano came to an abrupt end thanks to the diligence of local law enforcement. The Plano Police Department, alongside multiple assisting agencies, tracked down and apprehended a group of individuals connected to a series of smash-and-grab thefts targeting vape merchandise.
The break in the case came on December 3, when Frisco Police reported a burglary at a local vape store, the suspects were spotted by Officer Hess who then initiated a pursuit after they fled in their vehicle which subsequently crashed and led to a foot chase. This collaborative response also included heroic efforts from the Carrolton Police Department’s K9 Unit, University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) officers, and the DPS 101 helicopter, according to the Plano Texas Police Department.
While one suspect was apprehended at the crash site, a perimeter was swiftly set up to corral the remaining culprits. The search intensified with each passing moment as officers scoured the vicinity, slicing through the dark with the guidance of helicopter beams, and the steadfast vigor of police hounds. A second suspect was eventually nabbed with aid from UTD officers and the relentless pursuit paid off when detectives were able to identify and arrest the third suspect charged with evading detention in a vehicle.
The concerted effort to bring the suspects to justice was a testament to the commitment of law enforcement, involving 18 Plano officers who worked tirelessly to not only catch the perpetrators but to likely stem a tide of potential future crimes, Officer Hess's timely recognition of the suspect vehicle and sharp decision-making was particularly lauded in what resulted in evading detention charges for those involved, and the investigation continues with possible additional charges on the horizon.
