Chicago is reeling from a spate of rollover crashes that have left five people hospitalized in separate incidents in Logan Square and on the Eisenhower Expressway. In an early Monday morning incident, two women were rushed to hospitals after a rollover crash that occurred in Logan Square, according to Fox 32 Chicago. One woman was driving when she was hit by an unidentified vehicle, causing her car to flip and smash into a utility pole — she was taken in for observation despite no visible injuries, while the other woman suffered neck and lower body pain.
Not far behind in the tally of the injured, a Saturday night incident on the Eisenhower Expressway led to three individuals being hospitalized after a Toyota Corolla changed lanes improperly sideswiped their Toyota RAV4 which led to the RAV4 losing control and flipping over. This accident subsequently involved a third vehicle, a Tesla Model 3, which collided with the RAV4 during its rollover, details of which were reported by CBS News Chicago. The aftermath led to traffic disruptions with closures affecting the right lane and Kostner entrance ramp for approximately 45 minutes.
Investigators are peering into the circumstances surrounding the Logan Square crash with little information on the other involved vehicle, while state police have already cited the 19-year-old Corolla driver for failing to slow down to avoid an accident, and for driving without insurance. The conditions of the three RAV4 occupants remain undisclosed as medical assessments continue.
