
Flames ripped through a high-end Houston neighborhood late Tuesday night, resulting in an estimated $10 million in damages to a home under renovation in the Afton Oaks / River Oaks area. The Houston Fire Department reported a blazing 2-alarm house fire on the 3400 block of Inwood Dr. The fire, which broke out on January 23 at approximately 10:38 p.m., saw no casualties, according to an official statement.
Responding within five minutes, firefighters were quick to the scene where they found active flames bursting from the property. Their efforts escalated with the aid of a tower unit, strategically set up in the home's front driveway to aid in controlling the fire that while under investigation by the HFD Arson investigators, who were called in to figure out the fire's cause and origin.
A massive response of 93 personnel tackled the blaze, including firefighters from several Houston fire stations like Stations 11, 16, 2, 6, 8, 21, 28, 3, 7, 33, 62, 18, 37, 30, 57, alongside crews from Heavy Rescue 11 and Rescue 17. The precise cause of the fire remains a mystery
Details surrounding the property and the extent of the renovation work at the time of the fire have not been disclosed as investigations continue, the statement read.
