Steven Allen Rice, 34, was previously charged with assault with a deadly weapon, child abuse with no great bodily harm, and false imprisonment, according to Local 10 News. The incident, which took place on February 8, 2023, began as a verbal argument between Rice and his wife over her refusal to perform certain sexual acts, as reported by Homestead police. Rice allegedly escalated the dispute by grabbing a knife and threatening to kill both his wife and himself. In a terrifying twist, Rice's wife was holding their two small children during the threat. "She was going to 'get it'" and that he was "going to kill her and then himself," the victim conveyed in a statement obtained by Local 10 News.
