Known for its sprawling facilities complete with an abundance of gas pumps and the famous Beaver logo, this Buc-ee's location will occupy 74,000-square-foot of retail space, offering around 200 local jobs complete with full benefits—a 6% matching 401K and three weeks paid vacation, The Dallas Express reports. The grand reveal, while not pinned to an exact date, is anticipated by officials to likely align with the celestial phenomena on April 8, according to the Star-Telegram.
As the solar eclipse approaches, local economies are gearing up for the influx of visitors that such events traditionally bring. Hillsboro is already preparing for the wave of tourists by setting up viewing stations, campsites, and RV parks, crucial for accommodating the significant number of visitors drawn in by the eclipse's path stretching from Texas to Newfoundland. Moreover, hotel rates in the Dallas area have surged, spiking by 390% from last year for an eclipse view.
Amidst these preparations, the city of Hillsboro has been proactive in celebrating the event, with pop-up events including the Cosmic Cowboy Eclipse Festival and an 'Eclipseboro' carnival, as well as several Starlight Bar Nights. "This historic total solar eclipse is a massive opportunity to put Hillsboro on the map, highlight our unique way of life, boost our local economy, and foster connections with one another," as per The Dallas Express.
Buc-ee's, has established its imprint with 47 travel centers across several states beyond its Texas heartland, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, and South Carolina.
