Nordstrom Rack announces the upcoming opening of a new store in Meyerland Plaza. The off-price division of upscale retailer Nordstrom is set to establish its second location in the city this fall, taking over a 34,000-square-foot space previously occupied by an Best Buy, according to information from the Houston Chronicle.
The new Nordstrom Rack is also for the local economy, with a company spokesperson expressing excitement about expanding their physical footprint and economic impact in Texas, as reported by the Houston Chronicle. Meyerland Plaza has been a beehive of activity, as it continues to fill up with big names since the pandemic. Alongside Nordstrom Rack, recent additions include a Dick's Sporting Goods and a Joann fabric and craft store, which have taken their places in the iconic shopping center.
Meyerland Plaza's appeal to consumers and retailers alike is undeniable. With 23 locations throughout Texas, Nordstrom Rack's new outlet will join the existing store in the Galleria area at Centre at Post Oak, according to details shared by Community Impact. Providing up to 70% off on merchandise that ranges from apparel to home items, the retailer is a magnet for those looking for premium brands without the accompanying price tags.
The new Nordstrom Rack will also cater to the digital consumer. Services at the new location will include online order pickup for purchases made through Nordstrom’s websites, easy returns, and onsite alterations, "a spokesperson for the fashion retailer told Community Impact. The addition of this store is poised to create a dynamic shopping experience for Houston locals while reinforcing Nordstrom Rack's presence in the Texan market.
The real estate firm that handles Meyerland Plaza, Fidelis, had put the shopping center up for sale last August, but has been tight-lipped about the status of the listing.
