
Two Oakland residents are behind bars in San Mateo County Jail after being arrested in connection with a firearm-involved attempted murder and attempted grand theft dating back to 2022. According to a statement released by the South San Francisco Police Department, 25-year-old William Molina-Alba and 52-year-old Ana Villegas were arrested on January 24 on outstanding warrants.
The incidents reportedly occurred on February 8, 2022, when the South San Francisco Police Department responded to a call on the unit block of Bay Court, where an attempted catalytic converter theft escalated to gunfire. The male suspect, later identified as Molina-Alba, allegedly fired multiple shots during the interrupted theft before he and his accomplice fled. No injuries were reported in the encounter.
Investigations led detectives to name Molina-Alba and Villegas as suspects. Molina-Alba, listed as a laborer, faces charges of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and attempted grand theft. Villegas, who is noted as a house cleaner, has been charged with attempted grand theft. Their arrests came after painstaking investigative work by the police department, culminating in the apprehension of the duo in Oakland.
Details provided by the South San Francisco Police Department indicate Molina-Alba's physical attributes include black hair, black eyes, a height of 5 feet 6 inches, and weighing 168 pounds. Villegas similarly has black hair and brown eyes, stands 5 feet 6 inches tall, and weighs 190 pounds. Both suspects are currently booked, awaiting further legal proceedings related to the grave charges brought against them.
