Chaos erupted at a Cibolo gas station Friday morning when an officer-involved shooting took place after a confrontation with two individuals. The Cibolo Police Department reported that officers responded to a call at the Pik n Pak store on FM 1103 around 8:30 a.m., following suspicions of a car at the gas pumps. According to KENS 5, the individuals had moved their vehicle to the rear of the store by the time officers arrived on the scene.
Upon the officers' approach, a "scuffle" ensued leading, an officer to discharge his firearm. The police have confirmed that the individuals were indeed armed. Fortunately, no one was struck by the gunfire during the incident, and both suspects were detained, as reported by the Cibolo Police Department.
Adding details to the startling event, KSAT shared that the confrontation between the suspects and the police escalated when the driver pulled out a pistol. This action prompted at least one of the officers to fire his weapon, sending bullets through the car's windshield. The altercation left the glass shattered and an officer with minor injuries from the broken shards.
Following the gunfire, a nearby elementary school was placed under secure protocol, although classes continued normally. The investigation into the scuffle and the subsequent police response is still ongoing, Matthew Schima, a CPD Public Information Officer, told KSAT in a statement. With the suspects in custody, authorities are working to piece together the events that led to this dangerous confrontation.
