A Carrollton residence was rocked by an explosion early Saturday morning, leaving one person injured, according to local authorities. Carrollton Fire Rescue teams rushed to the scene at the 1800 block of Highland Drive around 3:44 a.m. after receiving reports of the blast. The emergency crew managed to quickly extinguish small remnants of fire upon their arrival.

One victim was located at the site, subsequently transported to a hospital, and is reported to be in stable condition, CBS News Texas reports. The aftermath of the explosion prompted the evacuation of nearby houses as a safety measure, while the Carrollton Police Department and Farmers Branch Fire Department assisted at the site.

As to what triggered the explosion, this remains under thorough investigation by both the Fire Marshal's Office and Atmos Energy. In a statement relayed by WFAA, Atmos Energy indicated their technicians responded swiftly to the incident. They said, "Earlier today, Atmos Energy’s highly trained technicians responded to a call near 1800 Highland Drive in Carrollton at the request of Carrollton Fire Rescue."

The evacuated residents were allowed to return to their homes once the area was deemed safe. Atmos Energy technicians are still working diligently to restore full service to the locality. The company also confirmed, "A precautionary evacuation has been lifted," in a statement obtained by WFAA.
