Early Thursday morning, a massive rig turned Main Street in Stoneham into a post-apocalyptic scene as it collided with a utility pole, promptly snapping it in half. According to the Boston 25 News, the accident occurred across from Stoneham Public Library just a bit past 1 a.m., leaving downed power lines and shattered glass in its wake.

The extent of the damage was such that a Ford Bronco, parked in the vicinity, had its back window shattered. The Stoneham Fire Department has confirmed, fortunately, that no injuries were reported. The residents of 438 Main Street woke up to find part of the utility pole on their front steps. The scene was quickly contained, however, the cause of the crash is still under investigation to presently determine what led to the mishap.

Eversource crews worked to restore power to the affected residents, managing to get the lights back on after some period of blackout. At the peak of the outage, as reported by NBC Boston, over 500 customers were left without electrical service.

No update on the driver or any potential charges has been given as of now.
