A Peachtree City man has been thrown in the slammer, accused of a sickening cocktail of offenses that include sending lewd material to a minor and threatening a school shooting. Andrew Garrett Burke, 27, is behind bars after allegedly engaging in an online relationship with who he thought was an underage child, during which he sent explicit images and videos of a sexual nature.
Burke was nabbed on January 21, according to WSB-TV, who reported that the repulsive acts occurred over three days. Burke didn't stop at corroding the internet with filth, the Floyd County Sheriff's Office records disclosed that he also spewed terroristic threats about shooting a school or killing people.
The Floyd County Police Department provided details on the offenses, stating Burke took it upon himself to send a photo of his genitals alongside videos of himself in the act of self-pleasure. He is also alleged to have peppered the supposed minor with graphic messages Fox5 Atlanta reveals. The weight of evidence collected against him led to a slew of felony charges, including obscene internet contact with a child, electronically furnishing obscene material to minors, and making terroristic threats.
In the face of these grave accusations, Burke has been denied the chance at freedom before trial; bond is not an option. The explicit communications and threats paint a chilling portrait of a man unhinged from the moral compass society expects from its members. The community waits to see how the hammer of justice will respond to such flagrant disregard for law and decency.
