A horrifying incident has rattled the Pembroke Pines community after a young girl was snatched and sexually assaulted while walking yesterday night, police said.
As per reports obtained by Local 10, the girl was in the vicinity of 1400 S. Flamingo Road around 7:50 p.m. when a man, described as Hispanic with dark skin, in his 20s or 30s, approached her from behind covered her mouth, and dragged her into some bushes to carry out the assault, after the assault he fled south, the police were unable to find him despite a thorough area search.
In a statement to the press, the Pembroke Pines Police Department expressed their dedication to community safety, emphasizing the protection of children and requested the public's assistance in identifying the assailant. "The Pembroke Pines Police Department is committed to protecting all members of our community, especially children," the department said, urging anyone with information to reach out to them directly or through Crime Stoppers.
Meanwhile, as reported by WSVN, an extensive investigation into the sexual battery incident is in progress with the Pembroke Pines police working to gather additional information; descriptions of the suspect have been widely circulated, he has dark hair, wore a white polo shirt, and black jeans and officials have put out a call to the public for any leads or information.
Authorities are putting considerable effort into tracking down the perpetrator and are offering a reward through Broward County Crime Stoppers. Individuals who come forward with information can remain anonymous and might receive an incentive of up to $5,000 for their help in solving the crime.
