A Phoenix teenager's life was tragically cut short by gunfire that invaded the sanctuary of her bedroom. Giaginette Brown, 15, was discovered unresponsive by police who arrived at her West Phoenix home near 107th Avenue and Camelback Road after shots were fired into her residence around midnight, as reported by azfamily.com. The high school sophomore and Spiritline member sadly did not survive.
In a cruel twist of fate, 17-year-old Isaac Orozco was identified to have been the get-away driver in what became a fatal drive-by shooting. Orozco has since been indicted as an adult on two felony charges including second-degree murder. In a detailed account obtained by azfamily.com, he and his accomplices allegedly agreed to open fire on a house, not knowing their bullets would find and terminate Brown's promising young life while she slept.
The Phoenix Police Department, determined to unravel this tragedy, has also identified 16-year-old "JJ" Richards as a person of interest. Sgt. Rob Scherer, speaking on the need to speak with the teen, stressed to azfamily.com, "Regardless of age, the violence potential is there, you know, and I think that speaks to us releasing that person of interest. So, we need everybody's help."
Sotero Boterro, a resident, conveyed to azfamily.com his shock saying, "It’s sad that it’s happening in our neighborhood, and hopefully everything stops and things continue to how they were quiet, calm, a good neighborhood."
Police are urging anyone with information about the case or Richards' whereabouts to come forward with tips that can be anonymously submitted to Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
