
A tragic drama unfolded in Phoenix where a 15-year-old girl, Daniella Espinosa, was mortally wounded by gunfire late Sunday night, sparking police action that led to a teenage boy's arrest on a slew of charges including second-degree murder. The Phoenix Police Department said the incident occurred at a residence near 7 Avenue and Broadway Road, and although officers arrived to find people inside, "they provided limited information," as reported by FOX 10 Phoenix .
According to authorities, officers who responded to the shooting call just before 11 p.m. on Jan. 14 discovered Espinosa with a gunshot wound she was transported to the hospital but succumbed to her injuries, as another victim was rushed to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Investigations are active and ongoing with police piecing together the events that led to the tragic shooting.
Revealing details about the arrest, ABC 15 shared that "a teenage boy is in custody and faces second-degree murder, aggravated assault, and weapon charges" and that the alleged suspect had been observed "manipulating the firearm." The firearm was later recovered by Phoenix police, pointing to potential evidence in the second-degree murder and assault charges the teen now faces.
