A construction gaffe in CC has forced city officials to place residents under a boil water notice. Following a water main break caused by a construction contractor, the City of Pompano Beach, has issued a 48-hour precautionary boil water order for 125 of its Lighthouse Point customers, according to the city's official press release.
The areas facing the advisory span from NE 30th Court south to NE 28th Street along NE 23rd Avenue and from NE 27th Court to NE 25th Street along NE 22nd Avenue. Residents are being directed to boil water intended for drinking, preparing food, making ice cubes, and brushing teeth for at least three minutes before use. Alternatively, bottled water can be used for these purposes. Households can still use the water for bathing, lawn irrigation, among other non-consumptive tasks.
City workers, collaborating with Lighthouse Point officials and the Department of Environment Protection, are putting in the hours to manage the break and restore normal service. The city's announcement also noted that door hangers are being spread across the affected zones to alert locals of the notice.
Residents will have to hang tight and keep their kettles boiling until the advisory is lifted. The inconvenience is expected to last a minimum of two days, during which officials will conduct tests to confirm the water's safety. The city has pledged to update those affected as soon as, the water quality is deemed acceptable and the boil water notification can be rescinded.
