A Portland man has been handed down a sentence exceeding eight years in prison following a high-drama armed robbery at a secluded marijuana grow operation in southern Oregon, according to multiple reports. Kenan Dizdarevic, age 35, with a criminal history trailing behind him, received 107 months in federal lockup complemented by a three-year supervisory leash upon his eventual release, KDRV detailed from court documents.
Infiltrating the grow site located in Eagle Point during the dead of night on November 2, 2019 Dizdarevic and an accomplice descended, shrouded in dark clothing and ski masks their bodies armored, hands gloved, and arms equipped with firearms; they barked out "police search warrant" as they restrained and subdued two individuals inside the home, eventually bolting with a sizable 30 pounds of marijuana and a victim's car, KOBI5 reported. A vehicular chase ensued that sliced through three counties, pushed the needle over 120 mph, the robbers' stolen getaway car eventually shedding the heat but Dizdarevic, piloting a separate vehicle got caught in the snare of a spike strip in Douglas County and he took his chances on foot.
Law enforcement pieced together the puzzle, connecting Dizdarevic to the daring impersonation and robbery, courtesy of copious evidence left behind—the likes of ski masks, zip ties, handcuffs, tactical vests, and multiple guns were discovered in the abandoned vehicle, as per an announcement from the U.S. Attorney's Office - District of Oregon obtained by KPTV. The press release also highlighted, "fingerprints, DNA and various personal belongings" of Dizdarevic retrieved from the scene, paving the way to his arrest.
After entering a plea of guilty to charges of interfering with commerce by robbery and conspiring to possess with intent to distribute marijuana in August, the sentence was cast upon Dizdarevic on Wednesday, with an added mandate to repay his victims a yet undisclosed restitution, added KOBI5. Dizdarevic's accomplice, identified as Shannon Christopher Harrop, 34, had earlier been anchored to a longer 162-month prison sentence back in March 2023 as highlighted in details by KDRV. In the wake of the sentencing, U.S. Attorney’s Office Eugene and Medford Branch Offices Chief Nathan J. Lichvarcik underscored the resolve "to hold defendants like Mr. Dizdarevic accountable and combating violent crime throughout Oregon."
