The string of violence plaguing the streets of Portland claimed another life as Joshua Page, a 35-year-old man, succumbed to a gunshot wound he sustained in an early morning shooting in the Hillsdale neighborhood. The Portland Police Bureau confirmed Page died after being shot at approximately 3:27 a.m. on January 13, in the 6300 block of Southwest Capitol Highway.
Despite immediate medical attention and transportation to the hospital, where he fought to stay alive, Page tragically passed away as a result of his injuries on January 16. The Multnomah County medical examiner has officially declared his death a homicide. Page is now counted among the six men fatally shot in Portland just this year, an alarming statistic considering the 77 homicides that shook the city last year, with most resulting from gunfire, according to OregonLive.
The early hours of that fateful Saturday morning saw Central Precinct officers hastily responding to reports of the shooting and discovering Page injured and alone, seated in a vehicle within a business parking lot. The area subsequently became a crime scene as detectives arrived to begin unraveling the circumstances of the shooting, which kept Southwest Capitol Highway closed for several hours.
While the police investigation continues, detectives are urging the public to come forward with any potentially useful information. They've requested that tips be directed to Detective Jen Hertzler or Detective Joe Corona at their respective Portland Police Bureau emails or phone numbers, referencing case number 24-10195. With Page's family grieving and asking for privacy during these excruciating times, they've opted to share his photograph with the media in hopes of aiding the ongoing investigation. The Portland Police Bureau's official statement, which was released without further details, emphasized this call for public assistance, direct from the department's news release.
