
A tragic scene unfolded on I-30 in Dallas when a pregnant woman was killed after her vehicle was struck by an off-duty police officer's car early Saturday morning, officials report. Her unborn child, delivered posthumously, is now fighting for life in critical condition. The collision occurred after her Chevy Malibu stalled in the highway's center lane, according to FOX 4 News.
The accident was reported just after 2:30 a.m., near 2nd Avenue. The Dallas County Sheriff's Office stated that their preliminary investigation suggests the Malibu stalled out before an oncoming Jeep Wrangler, driven by an off-duty Dallas police officer, collided with it. The identities of the victims have not yet been disclosed. The sheriff’s office relayed the heartrending aftermath— a woman's life cut short and a newborn's uncertain future.
Amid the chaos, two other individuals were also present in Malibu, however, details about their conditions remain under wraps. The off-duty officer involved was deemed fit after an evaluation at the hospital and subsequently released. The Dallas sheriff’s office has not yet mentioned if any charges will be filed as their meticulous investigation continues. Traffic flow on I-30 was obstructed for hours, reopening just before the morning light stretched across the sky at 6 a.m., as per WFAA.
