Hundreds of participants laced up their running shoes for a cause this past weekend, racing through the city's streets for the Amerant Bank 5K to benefit United Way Miami. The annual event, which began at the Coral Gables City Hall yesterday morning, aimed to collect funds for educational and financial programs in Miami-Dade County, according to WSVN.

Runners got to enjoy the scenic route along Coral Gables’ tree-lined streets. Many crossed the finish line with personal victories, with Freddy Garcia telling WSVN, "I’m happy, I’m happy with the result, probably the fastest time I’ve done in like 12 years." Another participant, John Bachner, managed to quickly finish saying, "Pretty good; I’m happy with it. I got like 20 minutes flat. It’s a cold and early morning, so I’m just happy I finished it."

The race wasn't only about personal bests but also about community impact. It supported nearly 100 programs at 63 impact partners and grantees, all to strengthen the pillars of education, financial stability, and health within the community. Entry fees, ranging from $40 to $55 depending on the registration date, were geared towards bolstering these local initiatives, as United Way Miami detailed.

Sponsorship opportunities were also part of the fundraising efforts, with levels available from $1,000 to $15,000. To further engage the community and ensure a successful event, United Way Miami offered pre-race warm-ups and hosted a post-race party to celebrate the participants’ efforts and contributions.
