A couple was savagely attacked by a pit bull on the South Side of San Antonio, throwing the quiet neighborhood into chaos and leaving behind a trail of injuries. According to FOX San Antonio, the mauling occurred earlier today near Stinson Airport, with a woman hospitalized and her partner also injured after they tried to save their small dog from the unleashed American Staffordshire Terrier.
The couple, given temporary shelter by the homeowner, found themselves in a life-threatening situation when their small dog was targeted by the usually chained pit bull. Hearing the woman's screams while being bitten multiple times, firefighters stationed nearby responded with urgency. They had no choice but to deploy several tools to end the horrific assault. The man, rushing to protect her, also suffered bites, as KENS 5 reported.
The wounded woman was swiftly transported to SAMMC, nursing deep bite wounds on her leg. Her boyfriend, seeking aid, walked into a fire station to have injuries on his arm and leg evaluated. As per statements by officials, the pit bull was taken into custody by Animal Care Services, and the authorities have yet to determine whether the dog's owner will be charged related to the violent outburst.
Witnesses at the scene were left in shock as the dog's removal by Animal Care Services unfolded before their eyes. Legal repercussions are looming for the dog owners, facing a third-degree felony charge for an attack by dog.
