
Tragedy struck northwest of downtown San Antonio when a landlord fatally shot his tenant during a heated confrontation Thursday morning. The deadly encounter took place on the 1000 block of West Huisache Avenue near Blanco Road, as reported by KSAT. According to police, the argument escalated rapidly when both the landlord and the tenant, identified as David Beck, drew guns against each other. Amid the turmoil, the landlord managed to fatally wound Beck in the head.
Police confirmed that the 37-year-old property owner and the 41-year-old tenant were both armed during the confrontation. It has yet to be clarified what specifically prompted the altercation, yet authorities are investigating to determine whether the landlord shot in self-defense. "I had just entered the restroom and right when I sat down, I heard a gunshot and a lady scream, and then like maybe 10 seconds later I heard five more shots," neighbor Edward Gonzalez told KENS 5.
The first responders rushed Beck to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The shooting adds to the list of more than 17 police calls to the address in 2023 for disturbances and burglaries, according to San Antonio Police Department records. The residence is said to house at least five people, no other injuries were reported during the incident.
While the shooting remains under investigation, the landlord has been taken into custody by the police.
