
San Antonio's west side community woke up to a harrowing scene as fire crews tackled a blazing inferno at a local residence early Friday morning. According to KENS 5, the fire started in a utility room of a home located off Shady Grove and Greenberry Drive, and was quickly contained by fire officials. The incident carries an ominous backstory; police detained a man who had reportedly threatened to set his mother’s home ablaze.
Officials stated that everyone was able to scramble to safety from the property with no reports of injuries. The arson unit has been roped in to investigate the blaze and determine the true cause. As of now, the San Antonio police have yet to confirm if charges will be brought against the man held for allegedly issuing the threats.
The San Antonio Fire Department responded to the emergency call just before 1 a.m. in the 7100 block of Shady Grove Drive, as flames were visible upon their arrival. KSAT reports put forth that the firefighters extinguished the fire promptly and without incident, while San Antonio Police Department and EMS units were also present on the scene.
