Chaos unfolded earlier today on the west side of San Antonio as police arrested two individuals, an adult and a minor, following a series of attempted carjackings and vehicle burglaries. According to the San Antonio Police Department, the crime spree started around 6:30 a.m. with a report of an aggravated robbery in an attempted carjacking incident. The suspects then hit another spot for a similar attempt at 8 a.m., said authorities.
The duo then targeted J.B. Passmore Elementary School's parking lot, where they burglarized approximately five vehicles around 8:30 a.m. A teacher stumbled upon the criminal act, triggering a swift police response. An undercover detective later sighted the suspects' stolen vehicle at a nearby shopping center, leading to a brief chase, KENS5 reported.
The pursuit culminated when the suspects abandoned their vehicle, bolting into a residence on Woodgate Drive. Therein, a 35- to 40-minute standoff ensued before the suspects surrendered peacefully. The confrontation induced no injuries and six schools were temporarily locked down as a precaution during the ordeal, but those measures have since been lifted.
Despite witnesses reporting the use of a weapon during the robberies, law enforcement officials have yet to recover any. Police have disclosed that one suspect is an adult and the other, a juvenile though their identities remain under wraps. The investigation is ongoing, and the suspects are expected to face a slew of charges as per KSAT.
