San Diego Welcomes New Upscale Karaoke and Cocktail Lounge 'Gaslamplighter' to Gaslamp QuarterSource: Google Street View

San Diego's nightlife is set for a swanky upgrade as the Gaslamplighter, a new karaoke and cocktail lounge, prepares to open its doors in the Gaslamp Quarter. Taking over the former Ciro’s Pizzeria space on Market Street, this upscale establishment wants to serve a blend of entertainment and high-end drinks. According to Eater San Diego, the Gaslamplighter is the brainchild of fourth-generation bar proprietor Frankie Scuito, who carries the torch from his father's renowned karaoke dive, the Lamplighter.

Combining his San Diego roots and extensive experience, including a decade-plus stint at the adjacent Side Bar, Scuito has crafted an environment with a nod to the past yet distinctively its own, the bar will feature a crafty 16-drink cocktail list, gourmet bar snacks, and those craving the Side Bar’s popular double-double wagyu burgers won't be disappointed. Interior design by GTC Design sparkles with art deco influences. It pays homage to the Gaslamp Quarter's history, featuring modern replicas of historic gas lamps and a scaled-down Gaslamp sign. The 1,600-square-foot space is adorned with images of famed vocalists, aiming to inspire the crowds that will soon gather to belt out their tunes.

Patrons will find the cocktail menu has something for even discerning tipplers, crafted by veteran bartender David Tye, expect indulgences like a truffled-infused martini topped with caviar or the refreshing 'Down the Rabbit Hole,' which brings together vodka, carrot, cucumber, ginger, and aloe vera. As reported by Eater San Diego, live music will serenade early evening guests, with the transition to karaoke beginning around 9:30 pm and stretching into the late hours.

The Gaslamplighter's official opening is slated for Thursday, February 8. It will be accepting reservations though eager San Diegans got a taste during a recent preview weekend, "We’re bringing back karaoke nights but with an elegant twist," the establishment boasts on its website
