A routine day at Ft. Funston Park turned precarious when an adult was injured on the beach, prompting a swift response by San Francisco's Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services yesterday.
The patient, whose injuries were confirmed non-life-threatening, found themselves in a bind as the encroaching tides and turbulent surf thwarted ocean rescue efforts. This left crews no choice but to secure and prepare them for a land-based evacuation.
According to a post from the San Francisco Fire Department PIO, the rescue operation occurred on Sand Dollar Trail, a route often less trodden and more revered for its picturesque qualities rather than its pragmatic use in emergency extractions.

The SFFD and SFFD EMS personnel were then seen committing to the arduous task of carrying the patient up the trail to the parking lot, where an ambulance awaited to heroically whisk the individual away to local hospital care. The details of the injury, the name of the patient, and the circumstances leading up to the incident remain uncertain.
Emergency responders have since reminded the public to yield to emergency vehicles, not to enter emergency scenes or drive over fire hoses, and to avoid the area to facilitate such rescue operations.
