The San Jose Police Department is actively investigating the city's 36th homicide after a man was fatally shot on December 30, authorities said Sunday. Officers rushed to the scene around Calle De Guadalupe and Plaza De Guadalupe after receiving reports of the shooting at 7:26 PM, where they found the adult male victim with a gunshot wound, immediately initiating life-saving measures and summoning medical assistance.
The unidentified victim was transported to a local hospital where despite the efforts of the responding officers and medical staff. He later died as a result of his injuries, the San Jose Police Department announced in a press release that also highlighted the anonymity of the victim, whose name awaits release pending notification of his next of kin by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office.
Details about the motive and circumstances of the shooting are scant as the investigation by the homicide unit continues, with Detective Sergeant Van Den Brock and Detective Estantino leading the efforts to piece together what occurred leading up to the final moments of the deceased.
