
A brazen attempted art heist in Scottsdale was thwarted early Sunday, as local law enforcement responded to a burglary in progress. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, the Scottsdale Police Department received reports of suspicious activity inside the American Fine Art Gallery and arrived at the Main Street and Scottsdale Road establishment at approximately 5:30 a.m. on January 7.
Police say an alert gallery employee heard unusual sounds and promptly tipped off the authorities, who swiftly contained the situation. The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Harpeet Singh, found himself trapped on the building's roof and a drone was employed, tactically ensuring the suspect remained in place until officers could close in, according to a statement obtained by FOX 10 Phoenix.
The operation culminated when Singh was arrested without further ado by the attending officers accompanied by a K9 unit. The authorities did not only manage to arrest the suspect but also recovered the stolen property, with 12 News reporting that evidence of the burglary had been staged on the roof, hence the gallery suffered no losses.
The Scottsdale Police Department executed their operation flawlessly, without civilian injuries or significant disruption, the events unfolded efficiently Singh was apprehended, and the stolen articles were secured, this detail was highlighted in a report by 12 News. Singh now faces burglary-related charges and will be booked into the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office jail, as per police statements.
